Head Strength Coach | Murray State University

Responsibilities & Duties: Design and implement strength and conditioning training protocols for all teams and athletes assigned to the weight room. Serve as the primary strength and conditioning coach for a revenue sport and secondary for four other sports as assigned. The incumbent will have responsibilities to assist in administering the medical treatment program for the 21 intercollegiate athletic teams and will perform the following specific duties: provide evaluation and treatment of athletic injuries for the varsity athletes in a clinical setting under the direction of the team physician(s); assist in supervision and administration of the athletic training rooms’ operations; assist in the record-keeping of all athletic injuries and rehabilitation; assist in the scheduling of medical appointments; perform inventory control and acquisition of sports medicine supplies; act as an liaison of the team physician(s); assist in the organization of pre-season physicals; provide on-site medical coverage for varsity teams as assigned; travel with varsity teams as assigned; perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Sports Medicine. The position is a two-year appointment, beginning July 1, 2024 or shortly after the candidate is hired. Requirements * WLC generally does not sponsor individuals for employment-based visas for this position * Bachelor’s degree and admission into Wisconsin Lutheran College’s (WLC) Master of Science in Sport and Recreation Management or Master of Arts in Education graduate program * Prior successful playing and/or coaching experience at the collegiate level preferred; successful high school or club coaching experience considered * Commitment to developing positive relationships with student-athletes, coaches, administration, and the greater WLC community * Proficiency with Windows Operating Systems Job Responsibilities (include but not limited to) * Assist Head Coach with practice planning, preparation, and execution * Aid in implementing a strength and conditioning program * Attend all practices, games, team events, camps, and clinics * Head Varsity Reserve Team Coach: Aid in players’ development in practices and games, schedule games and officials, coordinate travel needs * Identify potential recruits at high school games/tournaments and club tournaments * Attend games and tournaments in Wisconsin and the Midwest area * Initiate contact with recruits via email and phone conversations * Use Slate CRM system to organize recruits and all communication and status updates * Assist Head Coach with on-campus recruiting visits and events * Communicate with WLC admissions department on prospective student-athletes * Upload game film to Hudl and conference pool upon game conclusion * Analyze our own games for ways to improve individuals, offensively, and defensively * Contact teams for footage on opponents.
