Presque Isle, Maine, The Head Men’s and Women’s Track Coach is a 12-month position that reports directly to the Executive Director of Athletics. This position will serve as the Head Men’s and Women’s Track teams and assume all duties of a head coach at the NCAA Division III level. This position will also manage the day-to-day operations of Caroline Gentile Health and Physical Education Complex to ensure it is operational and safe for our campus community and greater Presque Isle community members, taking a service excellence approach to customer service. This position will contribute to creating and maintaining equity within the athletics department. This position will assist with other departmental needs as assigned, including game management responsibilities. Essential Duties The responsibilities of the coach shall include, but not necessarily limited to, the following: *Recruit and retain student athletes, maintaining a healthy track roster with the ability to fulfill NCAA minimum requirements each year for each team. *Coordinate and supervise Track Home Meets. *Help coordinate with other departments and external contacts as needed. Represent department ad u niversity to both internal and external contacts at professional meetings and other special or public events as well as on committees. Serve as the Assistant Director of Gentile Hall: *Responsible fo rthe day-to-day management of the complex. *Coordination and promotion of facility with academic, NCAA, community, and student programs. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: Athletic Advising Maintain current and accurate records and reports to each student athlete’s degree plan, progress toward degree and athletic eligibility, in effort to ensure that student athletes meet their academic and athletic goals. Serve as the student athlete liaison with campus faculty and staff. Assist student athletes in connecting with campus resources for academic success. Ensure that all student athletes meet all applicable university academic standards, policies, and procedures. Work with student athletes regarding academic performance, class/major selection, developing a graduation plan, goal setting, career planning, learning and study strategies and other skills necessary for academic success. Monitor the academic progress of student athletes, prepare necessary reports for coaches and staff. Work closely with the compliance and certification office to ensure proper procedures and process. Monitor student athletes progress toward degree and eligibility requirements. Maintain records in compliance with CSU, The Big South Conference and Ohio Valley Conference. Liaison Duties: Act as liaison to various campus entities, including but not limited to financial aid, bursar, registrar, internal audit, legal affairs (on NCAA compliance matters), undergraduate colleges and residential life (housing and dining). Act as the University liaison to the NCAA and Big Sky Conference on all NCAA compliance related matters. Works with legal affairs on coordination of the Big Sky Serious Misconduct Rule. 7. Position Purpose: Under general supervision of the assigned athletic administrator, the head coach is accountable for the administration, financial management, and development of the wrestling program and is responsible for the leadership of the program. The head coach will manage the resources provided by the University which support the essential components of the program and is actively involved in fundraising for program enhancements. This individual must abide by the rules and regulations established by Concordia University, Nebraska (CUNE), the Great Plains Athletic Conference (GPAC), and the NAIA by performing the following duties. This position also supports the Athletic Department with additional athletic department duties and may be called upon to teach activity courses relevant to his/her program. Responsibilities: Provides leadership in the development of the program to achieve the objectives consistent with the strategic direction of the Athletic Department. Adheres to the policies, procedures and processes set forth by CUNE officials. Responsible for the administrative, financial and coaching requirements of the team. Responsible for creating an environment which is consistent with the values of the University and Athletic Department and for fostering student-athlete development. Responsible for recruiting student-athletes for the wrestling program, in accordance with CUNE, GPAC, and NAIA regulations, guidelines, and standards. Responsible for recruiting student athletes who adhere to a Champions of Character athletic program which strives for academic achievement, competitive greatness and spiritual development. Accountable for the program's annual operating budget as approved by Cabinet. In consultation with the Marketing Department, the Head Coach is responsible for promoting his/her program Responsible for the promotion of the program through interaction and communication with internal and external groups. Responsible for development and implementation of an annual retention plan. May be responsible for teaching activity courses relevant to his/her program as assigned by the HHP Department Chair in consultation with the Director of Athletics. Other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Education- Bachelor's degree in sports related field preferred. Experience- 3-5 years of experience directly related to the essential functions. 2-5 years of experience as an assistant coach in Higher Ed or high school coach preferred. Demonstrated ability to provide winning results. Certifications- Valid driver's license. Specialized Knowledge- Knowledge of CUNE, GPAC, and NAIA rules in area of specialty. Knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and the ability to learn and utilize other software applications as necessary; experience in SCT Banner software preferred. Vice President for Championships & Sports Governance | NJCAA
Charlotte, North Carolina, Position Purpose Under the guidance and direction of the President & CEO, the Vice President will oversee the recruitment and selection of host sites, execution and management of all NJCAA national championships, and work with regional and district championships as needed. Will lead a team of individuals and support the efforts of the Championship Events Committee to oversee all aspects of NJCAA championships. Will lead the efforts alongside the Sports Governance Committee for the successful maintenance and implementation of sport codes and sport rules, while serving as a member of the executive staff of the NJCAA national office. Duties and Responsibilities The following duties are normal for this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all inclusive. Championships: Oversee and lead all aspects of NJCAA national championships for the national association, including but not limited to: •Lead, oversee and manage personnel within the Championships Division for successful execution of all NJCAA championships and invitationals ensuring quality student-athlete experience and host management. •Recruit new and/or retain existing championship hosts through a comprehensive bid process including coordination with Sport Committee representatives, Championship & Events Committee and NJCAA Board of Regents. Review championship contracts and ensure compliance with contractual requirements after execution. •Oversee efforts to assist with the district championships as needed. •Lead and oversee the management of pre-tournament to post-tournament protocols including but not limited to coordinating host planning and responsibilities, staff assignments & responsibilities, championships awards, credentialing, tournament handbooks, in-tournament execution, and post-tournament financial reconciliations, participant surveys and reviews with hosts. •Collaborate with Marketing & Communications and Multimedia divisions to maximize marketing and production efforts for championship exposure. •Serve as the liaison to the national Championship Events Committee. •Work with Coordinator of Officials and assignors on assignment of officials for all National Championship events. Sports Governance: •Along with Sport Governance Committee, lead the efforts to make positive and impactful changes for each individual NJCAA sport. •Monitor & maintain sport codes and rules and ensure all NCAA rule changes are communicated and implemented in a timely manner. •Oversee, lead and manage the regional and sports governance staff. •Work to create new methods of engagement and oversight for sports as well as assist emerging sports with growth. •Collaborate with Eligibility & Compliance team to process and adjudicate non-collegials. Maintain and update the NJCAA Sportsmanship Code, as appropriate. Other: •Serve as a member of the National Office Leadership Team. •Manage and lead all special projects assigned by the President and CEO. •Promotes NJCAA commitment to a climate of equity and inclusion through interaction with individuals and agencies inside and outside the NJCAA. May represent the NJCAA in regional and local associations, civic clubs, and non-profit organizations’ Boards. •Lead other duties as assigned by the President & CEO. Advanced degree required with a major/minor in related field; equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered in lieu of a degree. Eight or more years of professional intercollegiate athletics operations experience is required. Project management and event management experience required. Experience with execution of regional/national level championship operations and or equivalent strongly preferred. Experience working on or leading committees strongly preferred. Management and supervisory experience required. Demonstrated experience drafting and reviewing contracts based on the use of preapproved contract templates. Experience working with public entities and a thorough understanding of what they generally can, and cannot, contractually agree to. Demonstrated communication skills, organization, leadership, planning, and conflict management. A good command of Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite application software, current social media platforms, statistical input entry platforms, and website maintenance. The ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, to establish positive public relations and to interact effectively with staff, member colleges, athletic directors, student-athletes, fans, and the public.
